2017 Carrera Cup In Imola with the Porsche Cayenne S Hybrid

The comeback of Saottini Porsche to the Carrera Cup Italia is quite a good reason for celebration. The newly re-founded team, which is now sponsoring the female Porsche scholarship driver Francesca Linossi made its debut race yesterday at the Imola racetrack. The yellow 911 GT3 Cup adorned with a rather feminine flower theme has taken part at the inaugural event with great interest from the crowd. The naturally aspirated flat six track-only Cup car has been a trampoline for new talented drivers and a challenge for seasoned veterans: a one-make series which has never failed to entertain and amaze.
Amateur is not synonymous with the Carrera Cup: although this series has proved to be popular, the level of the drivers has always been top class.

The last week end allowed us to have a bright look into the future of Saottini Brescia and also, as a broader view, of Porsche. To reach the Imola test track, Saottini issued Escape on Wheels with a brand new Cayenne S Hybrid, the eco-friendly version of one of Porsche’s best sellers. A 3.0 liter V6 paired to an electric motor might seem an odd combination: suvs were never meant to save the planet. Despite this initial criticism, the driving experience of such a steel behemoth leaves a window open of what’s to come: despite hauling around a total curb weight of over 2 tons, the fuel economy was extremely good, with approximately 13 km/l during city driving. With the combined work of both engines, the word efficiency has been translated into the language of those who favor the luxurious space of the most famous 4×4 coming from Stuttgart!

A bright new start for Centro Porsche Brescia in the Carrera Cup and an interesting future coming for Porsche performance machines: if this is not excellence…!
